Luna Decaf is proof that decaf can still taste like real coffee. It's a single origin, medium roast Colombian decaf from producers in Chaparral, Tolima, and an 84 point specialty coffee with caramel, chocolate, malt and sweet cane sugar notes. Decaffeinated using a natural sugar cane process, it's smooth, low in acidity and freshly roasted before it reaches you, whole bean or ground.

The caffeine is removed using ethyl acetate, a natural compound made from sugar cane, which takes out over 97% of the caffeine while keeping the flavour. So you can enjoy a proper cup of decaf whenever you like.

FAQ

Does this actually taste like real coffee?

Yes. Luna Decaf is roasted with the same care as Madrigal and El Tambo, not treated as an afterthought. You get caramel, chocolate and malt notes, not the flat, thin taste decaf is often blamed for.

How is the caffeine removed?

With a natural process using ethyl acetate, a compound made from sugar cane. It removes over 97% of the caffeine while keeping the coffee's flavour.

Is Luna Decaf caffeine free?

Not completely. Like all decaf, it still contains a small amount of caffeine, as over 97% is removed.

Can I drink this while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Many people choose decaf while pregnant or breastfeeding to cut back on caffeine. Luna Decaf still contains a small amount of caffeine, as all decaf does, so it's worth checking with your doctor about what's right for you.

Can I get this ground, or only whole bean?

Both. Whole bean stays fresher for longer, but properly ground fresh coffee is still excellent. Choose whichever suits your setup.
Read our guide to whole bean vs ground.

How fresh is this, really?

Freshly roasted before it reaches you, with the roast date printed on a card in every bag.

Which brew method should I start with?

Cafetière, moka pot and bean to cup machines all work well. Luna Decaf doesn't need a special setup to taste good.
